The Hateem, also known as Hijr Ismail, is a sacred area adjacent to the Kaʿbah and forms part of its original structure. Praying within the Hateem carries the same virtue as praying inside the Kaʿbah, which is why many pilgrims are eager to enter this blessed space.
Due to its importance and limited capacity, access to the Hateem is carefully organised by the authorities.

Where to Queue
For those wishing to enter the Hateem, please note that the official queuing area begins at 'Al-Fath Gate' Gate 45, located on the southern side of the Haram Complex). Pilgrims should proceed to this gate and follow the directions given by Haram staff. Entry is strictly regulated, and only those waiting in the designated queue will be permitted access.
Visiting Hours
Access times are separated for men and women:
Women
- 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Men
- 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM
These timings may change depending on crowd levels or operational requirements, particularly during peak seasons. It is recommended to arrive early and remain patient.
Guidance for Visitors
- Enter with calmness and respect, as the space is small and often crowded.
- Keep your supplication brief to allow others the opportunity to enter.
- Follow all instructions from security and mosque staff at all times.
- Avoid pushing or rushing, and be mindful of fellow pilgrims.
